What is being done about the flooding of September?
As many know there was a significant rainfall event in August (hurricane Ida) which caused significant damage to a retaining wall at the end of Aspen drive. The Master Association was responsible for the evaluation and repair of the wall completing repairs in late 2021. This repair was not covered by the insurance policy in affect at the time of the flood, and national flood insurance was not available. Nor was the association eligible for FEMA funds as condominium associations are not covered by FEMA. However, the master association did change insurance carriers in the fall and now has some coverage for flood events through private insurance with carries a mandatory five-thousand-dollar deductible.
Brian Archibald and Elnardo Webster have had numerous meetings and conversations with the township and the county about the runoff from Cedar Grove Park which directly caused the overload of the Hilltop drainage system. The county engineer stated in one of these meetings “if it is our water, we will take care of it”. The master board will continue to have discussions with the county and municipality to work toward a resolution of this problem. The master board should also include this issue as a conversation with the developer transition.
