What is a safe speed on our private roadways?
Hilltop is a large community of 460 homes that is designed around a park like setting and enjoyed by all homeowners, especially families with children, and others that do enjoy walking alone or with our furry friends. The engineers state the roads were designed for twenty-five miles an hour speed. Many Hilltop residents think twenty miles an hour is a more appropriate speed on our roadways. While speeding is unacceptable at any place, the topography of the Hilltop and placement of street parking can greatly reduce visibility. We have had some close calls but fortunately no incidents, yet. We must encourage safe and responsible vehicle operation to ensure the safety of all. The speeding issue should be the topic of a specific community wide discussion for general awareness.
